The Voices Foundation has announced the appointment of Rebecca Walsh as its new Chief Executive. She joins The Voices Foundation at a particularly exciting time in the charity’s history and takes over from Nicola Wallis who has led the organisation over the last 12 years.
Recognised for its inclusion in the Government’s National Plan for Music Education, The Voices Foundation works in partnership with Hubs and Academy Networks across England. Set up by Suzi Digby, the mission of The Voices Foundation is to help children realise their full potential through a singing-based music curriculum. Music is part of the National Curriculum up to KS3, however, Ofsted has recently highlighted the challenges associated with the quality of music education available in schools today. The Voices Foundation has the established methodology to tackle this problem through its sustainable programmes and strategies.
Rebecca comes to The Voices Foundation from her role of Education Director at Opera North, where she has developed a number of major, nationally significant education programmes working with a range of partners. Her track record of successfully bringing these to fruition and her passion for music education will serve The Voices Foundation well.
