A day exploring singing with young voices, led by Anita Morrison and including a workshop with James O’Donnell, Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey.
The Vaughan School and Director of Music Scott Price is to host a day focused on singing with children that promises to be of interest to those engaged in working with young voices at all levels.

The morning will be led by Anita Morrison, renowned singing teacher, who will explore the themes discussed in her recent book, The Chorister and The Racing Car, focusing on practical matters such as warm up techniques, linking sound to movement and gesture, achieving energy and how to aim for connected, healthy singing with young people.

After lunch James O’Donnell, Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey and one of the world’s great choral trainers, will take an open rehearsal with boys from the Vaughan School’s Schola Cantorum, offering a rare insight into the skills he has developed in his thirty years of training boys choirs.
This will be followed by a question and answer session before the days closes with a short recital by the Schola Cantorum Choristers.
Anita Morrison (Soprano) has been teaching singing for over 25 years and is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner. She gained a B.Ed.(Hons.) Degree, continuing her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with awards from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and Cripplegate Foundation, winning the 1989 Maggie Teyte Prize Competition. She has recently published a new book ‘The Chorister and the Racing Car’, highlighting vocal health and performance for choristers. Click here for more information.
James O’Donnell is Organist and Master of the Choristers of Westminster Abbey. In addition to a full schedule of daily choral services, his responsibilities have recently included directing the music for a service in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 and the Wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in April 2011.
