The Music Teachers’ Association is delighted to announce that, following a successful application process, we have been confirmed as an official Subject Association for Music, alongside our #CanDoMusic colleagues at ISM and Music Mark. The MTA is the largest and longest-established association of music teachers in the UK, supporting members in their wonderful work as well as providing many freely accessible resources to the wider music education community.
The last three years have seen a period of rapid and sustained growth and development for the MTA and, as such, we are more active, more vibrant, and more connected than ever before. Our year-round CPD programme of webinars, podcasts, e-bulletins and Ensemble magazine, supported by our Facebook Staffroom and Annual Conference, enables music teachers to connect with each other, share ideas, develop good practice and work together in partnership.
The Council for Subject Associations was set up in 2007, with Government support, to act as a single voice for its subject association members. Subject Associations are membership organisations, whose members are subject experts. Subject associations are independent of Government, and their mission is to further teaching and learning in their specific subject areas in schools, colleges and ITE/ITT.
The MTA works with our partner organisations, ISM, Music Mark, and HMC, to support and advocate for music in schools, inspiring a large and increasingly diverse membership which passionately believes that every child should benefit from outstanding music education.
We are proud to be run by teachers, for teachers, and are pleased that this successful application further recognises the MTA as a leading voice for music education in the UK.
