Creative Intentions Workshop, December 2nd 2015, Weybridge
We are thrilled to have secured composer Aaron Holloway-Nahum to come and give a class on ‘Creative Intentions’ to kick start the competition process and also inspire any composers, on December 2nd at St George’s College, Weybridge. Anyone in years 10+ can attend this 2 hour class, whether they then decide to enter the competition or not; it’s going to be a fabulous afternoon for all those undertaking coursework where composition is required, to ask questions, exchange ideas, think about the creative process and work out where to start on that blank piece of paper! (15.30-17.30)
Composition Workshop Day, March 15th 2016, CVMS London
This day will include a workshop on compositional techniques, in addition to a lecture on general composition. There will be a workshop performance of the three winning compositions that have been chosen by the adjudicator who will also give guidance and host a Q&A session for anyone who would like to bring along their compositions for advice. Structured in a similar way to an ‘INSET on composition’, the day will focus on our students, bringing them together and reminding them that they are not alone!
We do hope you will encourage your students to enter the competition, regardless of whether they and you can attend either the workshop or composition day. Please take from this what will be useful for your school. We do hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity provided by Amadeus to help inspire our next generation of composers further, through meeting, listening, talking, and sharing ideas. A successful first year will inevitably reap further rewards in the future.
