Annual INSET for Music Administration in Schools | 29th January
This annual gathering for anyone involved in school music administration has been happening for several years now and has become an invaluable day for learning skills, sharing new practice and networking between school music departments. With a packed programme and plenty of chance for Q&A the last INSET at Headington School, Oxford had 50 delegates.
This year we visit Loughborough: www.lesmusic.org
Friday 29th January 2016
Hosted by Keith Ayling, MMA Media Manager
Programme to include:
Forum on the Role of the Music Administrator
Always an important discussion for both new and experienced music administrators, this forum gives a broad perspective to the way that each school views the role. Job descriptions, roles and hours vary so much that it is difficult to find common ground, but illuminating to discover how departments function. The music department is often the busiest in the school and increasingly more so as instrumental lessons, ensembles, orchestras and tours are scheduled in to the life of the school.
Setting and paying instrumental fees
We welcome Caroline Aldred from the ISM who will present the results from the ISM’s latest survey of instrumental/vocal tuition fees for private self-employed visiting music teachers. She will also cover the ISM’s recommendations for employed visiting music teachers for the next academic year.
Caroline has many years’ experience delivering business and legal services to the ISM’s musician members to support them in their professional work.
Copyright and the Schools Printed Music Licence
Gursh Sangha is the Education Support Manager from the Copyright Licensing Agency – the body responsible for the Schools Printed Music Licence. This session will give you everything you need to know about printing, scanning and amending sheet music as well as posting music on a VLE.
Music Management Software advice
Throughout the day you will be able to book a slot with Furlong and CJM Software to talk on a one-to-one basis about your needs for management software and see the features they offer. If you already use the software you can seek advice and support.
Registration from 9.30am | Programme from 10.00am
£25 | Day to include lunch and mid-session refreshments.
